Josh is doing well, as is mum and dad.
I want to thank all family and friends who have called and emailed their kind wishes. As you can imagine, I have been a little snowed as late, however I will email and call you all in due time.
Ok, I thought I would post a few pictures of little Joshua Morton. These photos aren’t the best, however, I haven’t downloaded the good pictures from the camera yet. These photos were taken 6 Hrs after birth on the 15th June 09.
Since Josh was born using Forceps, you can still see the marks left by them on his face, however, these will disappear in a few days or so.

Little Joshua Morton
Little Joshua Takumi Morton was born last night at 11:30pm at Manly hospital. Weighing 3.5Kg at measuring 14cm from head to tail.
Mum and baby are doing well.
Manly hospital was fantastic, the did a fantastic job, Josh was a difficult birth, because Josh is quite a healthy size. However Tomoko, is a trooper and did really really well. She is delighted with her new little baby boy (as am I of course).
She’ll be at hospital for a few days. Ofcourse pictures will follow when I pry the camera out of Tomoko’s hands <grin>
Mum and Dad are both delighted with the news they now have a grandson!
Exciting times. Tomoko’s pregnancy is now 34 weeks! Josh could be born at any time now.
We are hoping dad will be with us still when Josh is born. It looks like he will. He has deteriated significantly, however, I think he is still determined to see the birth of his first grandchild.
Mum has been fantastic. She has been very supportive. Knitted lots of things for Josh (jumpers, teddy bears, rugs, booties, blankets). We now have everything to welcome Josh into the world.
I’m really proud of Tomoko, she is a trooper thus far. She’ll be a great mum. I am however a little nervous about the birth. Not being a fan of seeing others in pain, and being a little squirmish around bodily fluids, needles and Doctors, I am hoping I don’t faint or something (during the birth).

Saw Mum on the weekend. She is doing really well since her treatment.
Together we went to Mona Vale on the weekend, and bought all the “important” baby stuff. Pram, Baby Seat for the car, curtain rod for Josh’s new curtain’s in his room.
I then spent Sat evening and Sun morning, installing the curtains for Josh and his car seat into Tomoko’s car.
In all, it was great to get these things done. So, now, we have everything for Josh’s arrival (all the big stuff atleast). Now, we just have to wait for Josh to arrive to meet us.
He’s due within the next 6 or so weeks.
I found a really great browser today called flock (www.flock.com)
The think I really like about it, is that it connects to all your blog/IM/community websites like facebook, wordpress, etc.
Anyway, I’m trying it now, however, it really does appear to be very very cool.
Now, I’ll be able to again update my blog more frequently (this update is via flock), and keep twitter up to date, etc…
Fantastic.
It’s been a difficult 6 or so weeks since my last post. Dad of course is still unwell, and in a palliative care ward with his brain cancer. He has beaten all the odds, and survived a good 6 months after the operation to remove the brain cancer. Unfortunately, the prognosis isn’t great, and he was only given approx 6 months left to live.
Although Dad is still able to recognise people, he can barely move now, barely talk and barely compose thoughts. It is terrible to see dad as he is, and one of the worst things is not knowing how long he has left with us.
The good thing, is that he is not in pain and is quite comfortable.
On top of this, Mum was increasingly causing us distress over the past 6 or so months. We didn’t know why. The issue was that she was saying things that didn’t make sense. She was claiming a whole lot of things that weren’t true, and generally appearing depressed and psychotic.
Tomoko and I decided approx 6 weeks ago (after she requested for help), to take her to St Vincents Emergency ward to get checked out (we knew there was something wrong Psychologically).
Mum was diagnosed with Psychosis and severe depression. We figured this had to do with Dad, however, it now appears that she had been suffering from this prior to dad getting ill.
Mum was put under the health act, and kept at hospital (mainly because she has suicidal tendencies). She was kept under care for 4 weeks.
The good news, is that mum was released last week, and is currently residing in a hospice in Bronte (until she feel happy to return home). She is not kept against her will, instead she is free to go home whenever she wants.
The improvement has been incredible. She is the happiest I have seen her for several years. She appears much more capable of dealing with dad’s illness, and is coping really well.
I am very proud of Mum, because she has overcome the Psychosis and depression which was crippling her only 6 weeks ago.
I just wish I had picked up her suffering a long time ago, and helped her to overcome it then. She will be on treatment for probably quite a while. However, the treatment is working really well in her case, and I hope she will be able to enjoy the rest of her life now, instead of fearing it as she was before.
On to happier topics. Tomoko is now very pregnant. Baby (Josh), is now due in only 7 weeks. Due 10th June 09.
Josh is huge, Tomoko (being very petite), is looking very pregnant now (I mean her tummy is quite prominent on her small frame).
Tomokoand I are incredibly excited, and can’t wait for the birth of our first baby!

Tomoko and I went to the Catscan place today to have the 19 week baby scan!
This is the scan, where they can tell you if your baby is going to be a boy or a girl! They also take a whole lot of measurements of the baby, including it’s heart rate, size, head size, number of fingers and toes, etc… He’s normal size, and weighs just on 320 grams.
We just had to know what the sex of our baby was (you know, gotta sort our the names, colour of the nursery, the type of toys, the colour of the clothes, et al) – well, not realy however, that’s our excuse!!!
Well, we asked if they wouldn’t mind telling us our baby’s sex. It’s going to be a boy!!!
Tomoko was petty sure it was going to be a boy (call it a mother’s instinct or whatever), I on the other hand, was pretty sure it was going to be a girl! (how I’d know, I have no idea <grin>).
Ofcourse, we don’t mind what sex our first baby is!!!
Mum is delighted, and I am sure dad will be too. I really hope, dad will hang around to see his first grand child! Tomoko is going to call her parents tonight. Actually, the timing is all really good, because Tomoko’s sister is about to have her 3rd about 2 months after ours is due (ours is due 10th June 09), and Tomoko’s sister in law are due to have hers 2 months earlier than ours. So, there will be babies everywhere in the Takano household the next time we go to Japan.
